Terms & Conditions

Regular Programme 2024-2025

Location Change during Rescheduling

  • Once you have scheduled your child to a specific location, changing the location is not permitted.
  • However, you can change the schedule 7 days before the selected class.

Class Arrangement

  • Preface requires a minimum of 2 students enrolled in order to open a bootcamp. If there is only 1 student enrolled in a particular camp session, Preface reserves the right to cancel that class.
  • If Preface decides to open the bootcamp with only 1 person, it will only last for one month. If the same scheduled class has only 1 person enrolled in the following month, the class schedule will be canceled. No refunds will be offered in these cases.
  • In the event of disputes arising out of the class arrangements, the decision of Preface shall be final and conclusive.

Sick Leave Policy

  • If you need to cancel a class due to illness, you must inform us at least 2 hours in advance and provide valid doctor's proof.
  • Our community team will make every effort to schedule a make-up session for you, based on the availability of other time slots. Free make-up classes are subject to availability and scheduling constraints. If the proposed make-up class time does not work for you, we have the following options:
    1. 10-minute pre-class review session: You can request a 10-minute session with the instructor before your next scheduled class to go over the material you missed.
    2. 1-on-1 make-up class: You can purchase a 1-on-1 private make-up class for $400, scheduled at a mutually agreeable time.
    3. Access to class materials: You will be provided with the class notes and any other relevant materials, so you can review the missed content on your own.

Personal Leave / Holiday Leave

  • If you need to cancel a class for personal reasons, you must inform us at least 10 days in advance. If you provide less than 10 days' notice, no make-up class will be offered.
  • Our community team will make every effort to schedule a make-up session for you, based on the availability of other time slots. Free make-up classes are subject to availability and scheduling constraints. If the proposed make-up class time does not work for you, we have the following options:

No Show

  • If you do not show up for a scheduled class and we are unable to reach you after 30 minutes from the scheduled start time, the class will be canceled.
  • No make-up class will be offered in such cases.

Make-up Classes Due to Weather

  • Please refer to the Weather Policy section.
  • The Preface community team will have the authority to make the necessary arrangements and communicate any changes to the participants.

Refund Policy

  • The Regular Programme is non-refundable after the purchase.
  • No refunds will be provided for canceled camp sessions due to low enrollment.
  • No refunds will be provided for canceled camp sessions due to bad weather.

By enrolling in the Regular Programme, you agree to abide by these terms and conditions.

Summer 2024

Enrollment

  • You may enroll in the camp anytime after purchase, but it is recommended to do so as soon as possible.
  • Enrolment should be completed at least 7 days before the start of the camp.

Location Change during Rescheduling

  • Once you have scheduled your child to a specific location, changing the location is not permitted.
  • However, you can change the schedule within 7 days before the selected class.

Rescheduling

  • You are allowed to reschedule the entire boot camp.
  • Rescheduling must be done at least 7 days before the selected camp starts.
  • Please note that when enrolling in another bootcamp, you must remain at the same campus.

Class Arrangement

  • Preface requires a minimum of 2 students enrolled in order to open a summer camp. If there is only 1 student enrolled in a particular camp session, Preface reserves the right to cancel that class.
  • Preface will notify the parent/guardian of the enrolled student at least 5 days prior to the scheduled camp start date if the enrollment is less than 2 students. At the time of notification, Preface will suggest alternative dates for the camp session to be rescheduled.
  • In the event of disputes arising out of the class arrangements, the decision of Preface shall be final and conclusive.

Changing the Course Selection

  • You are allowed to change the course selection. Changes must be made at least 7 days before the start of the camp.
  • To request a change, please contact us via WhatsApp - 9404 9580.

  • Our community team will try their best to offer a make-up session depending on the availability of other time slots.
  • If the proposed make-up class schedule(s) do not work out,
    • no free make-up class will be provided.
    • you will have access to the class notes to review the missed material.

Example:

  • If your child is sick on the 3rd session of the boot camp and unable to attend the 14:30 class, please inform us via WhatsApp before 12:30 with the doctor's proof.
  • The remaining days of the camp (Day 3, 4, 5) will be postponed as a block to ensure the student's learning experience is not compromised.
  • Our team will work out the make-up session arrangement with the parent, depending on the availability of other time slots.
  • If the proposed make-up schedule(s) do not work out, no make-up class will be provided.
  • The parent can decide whether to let the child continue with Day 4 and 5 in the same week, depending on their health condition.
  • The student can access the class notes to review the missed material of Day 3 before attending the remaining sessions.

No Show

  • If you do not show up for a scheduled class and we are unable to reach you after 30 minutes from the scheduled start time, the class will be canceled.
  • No make-up class will be offered in such cases.

Validity of summer camp credits

  • Summer camp credits are valid from June 17 to August 31 and no make-up or refund will be allowed for any unused credits.
  • No refunds or makeups will be provided if a student is unable to attend a desired class due to the class being fully booked.

Make-up Classes Due to Weather

  • In the event of weather-related disruptions during the 2024 5-day summer bootcamp, the class content that is scheduled for any canceled sessions will be covered during the next scheduled class.
  • The class schedule will be extended to ensure all content is delivered, with the final class session being rearranged to an additional available day beyond the original 5-day schedule if needed.
  • At the discretion of the Preface community team, additional make-up sessions may be scheduled if deemed necessary to ensure all content is fully covered.
  • The Preface community team will have the authority to make the necessary arrangements and communicate any changes to the participants.

Class Credit Policy

  • Students will be charged the full class credit for any no-show or cancellation made less than 7 days prior to the scheduled class or the first day of camp. This policy helps us maintain appropriate class sizes and accommodate waitlisted students.

Refund Policy

  • Bootcamp credits are non-refundable after the purchase.
  • No refunds will be provided for canceled camp sessions due to low enrollment.
  • No refunds will be provided for canceled camp sessions due to bad weather.

By enrolling in the camp, you agree to abide by these terms and conditions.

PLUS-Membership

Membership Validity Period (“Validity Period”)

  • Valid for 1 year from the date of commencement of the first bootcamp and/or first event joined with the Membership pass.[1]
  • All classes must be completed on/before the last day of your valid Membership.[2]
  • Membership cannot be canceled or suspended in any circumstances once activated and no refund would be provided under any circumstances once a purchase is made.
  • The Membership cannot be transferred or converted to cash and its use is subject to the terms and conditions stipulated by Preface.
  1. For illustrative purposes, if the Membership was purchased on 1 May 1, 2023 with the enrolled bootcamp starting 31 May 2023, the 1 Year Validity Period would be 31 May, 2023 to 30 May, 2024. The Membership will be automatically activated 100 days after the date of purchase (“Activation Date”) if there are no enrollment records with the Membership before the activation date.
  2. For illustrative purposes, if the Validity Period ended on 30 May 2024, the last session of the bootcamp must be on or before 30 May, 2024.

Discount Privilege

  • Member Plus students may enjoy year-round special privileges of 90% off discount for all Kids bootcamps.
  • Unlimited Kids’ bootcamps enrolments.
  • Applicable to all Kids’ bootcamps listed on the official Preface website.
  • This discount cannot be used in conjunction with other monetary and non-monetary offers or promotions.
  • Discount will be automatically applied once the course is added to the shopping cart. In case of any booking problems, please contact our staff through community@preface.ai.

Class Arrangement

  • Schedules or availability may change over time and at any time.
  • Preface does not guarantee the availability of particular classes or schedules for Membership students.
  • Preface reserves the final right to change or cancel bootcamps according to the enrollment situations.
  • Preface reserves the right to revoke any Membership in the event of continuous misuse. This includes cases where a member consistently fails to attend booked classes or holds spaces in classes without any intention of participating. In such instances, the party in question will not be eligible for a refund. Their online booking privileges will be temporarily suspended, and any future booked classes will be canceled.
  • Preface reserves the right to update these terms and conditions at any time without further notice.
  • In the event of disputes arising out of the Offer, the decision of Preface shall be final and conclusive.

GENERAL ENROLLMENT

  • Preface reserves the right to refuse the admission of any student who, in Preface’s opinion, does not meet the minimum requirement for courses, may impact the learning of other students in its campus and any third-party locations, and/or impact the teaching of Preface’s Nomad Teachers.
  • Preface reserves the right to discontinue a student’s enrollment at any time due to, including but not limited to, non-payment of tuition in part or in full, disruptive behavior in class at any places where classes are conducted, negative impact on other students’ learning and/or the Nomad Teacher.
  • Enrolment is only confirmed upon successful payment and completion of the student registration form.
  • For Bootcamps, hereafter bearing the meaning of group classes with more than 1 student, Preface reserves the right to reschedule a student’s enrollment at any time for any one-person class.
  • Preface reserves the right to change any pre-assigned Nomad Teacher for any lesson as deemed appropriate or necessary. For 1-on-1 private classes, clients shall be notified of such change prior to class via email or phone. For Bootcamps, Preface is not required to provide prior notice for such arrangements.
  • Enrollment in any courses offered by Preface may be subject to pre-assessment to determine a student's suitability to enroll in any lessons.

TUITION DETAIL & PAYMENT POLICY

  • Tuitions are non-refundable once the student’s placement has been confirmed.
  • All tuition fees must be settled before the class commences. Preface reserves the right to withdraw or preclude any student from attending any class if the course fee has not been settled.
  • Tuition must be paid at the time of registration via cash, cheques or other online payment methods available at that time. Preface reserves the right to change or decline any payment method without prior notice.
  • Preface reserves the right to change, including but not limited to time, course fee, course content, course materials and/ or structure, at any time without further notice. For the most up-to-date tuition fee and course details, please refer to the rates as published on our website, brochure and/or printed leaflets, or on our latest published amendment. However, please note that while certain aspects may be subject to change, the learning outcome of the course will remain the same.
  • The tuition fees may comprise a package of classes and/or hours as indicated on our website or brochure. No pro-rata payment will be accepted unless otherwise specified or agreed in writing as provided by Preface.
  • Promotional discount is limited to one discount per student and is required to be paid the full at the time of registration to receive the published discount rate. Preface will not honor retroactive adjustments and the total discounts received cannot exceed the total cost of the products and/or purchased. Preface reserves the right to amend or change our promotional policy any time without further notice.
  • Tuition fees will only be refunded when the enrollment is not accepted.
  • Classes missed without proper notice will not be credited.

DEVICE REQUIREMENTS

Students are required to bring their own device and charger to class:

  • ScratchJr - Tablet, preferably iPad
  • Scratch, App Inventor, and other courses - Mac or Windows Laptop

1:1 and GROUP PRIVATE CLASS ARRANGEMENT

For all 1:1 private classes and group private classes, while class dates and times are of the students’ preference, the following cancellation policy applies:

  • Private group classes must be cancelled as a group, e.g. if 1 student is absent, the group class should be rescheduled.
  • If the group decides to continue as normal, a make-up class is not available for the absent student(s) and no tuition fees will be credited.
  • If the class is cancelled 48 hours in advance, full tuition fees will be credited.
  • If the class is cancelled between 48 and 24 hours before class, half tuition fees will be credited.
  • If the class is cancelled within 24 hours of its scheduled start time, no tuition fee will be credited.

LIMITATIONS OF LIABILITY

Preface, at all material times, shall not be liable for any items or properties being lost or stolen at any of Preface’s locations for any reason whatsoever. Student agrees to be solely responsible for taking care of his/her own personal belongings at any of Preface’s locations.

RESTRICTIONS ON USE

Parents, Students and Nomad Teachers agree to not reproduce, distribute or show to any other person, in whole or in part, any of the class materials, lesson notes, assessments and tests distributed by Preface without the prior written consent of Preface. Any person is not permitted to solicit or make private arrangements for tuition with any Nomad Teachers, either employed or introduced by Preface.

Preface reserves the right to change the T&C at any time without prior notice. In the event that any changes are made, the revised terms and conditions shall be posted on this page.

PERSONAL DATA AND EDITORIAL MATERIALS

Unless otherwise specified or opt-out in writing to our email address at community@preface.ai, all clients and participants to any programs, including but not limited to courses, free and/or paid workshops organised by Preface, agree and allow Preface to freely use all photography, film and sound material that has been created by Preface without further approval from the participant for promotional or educational purposes. These include but are not limited to all rights to images, footages, student's and/or participant's work.

All classes are recorded via Google Meet for quality assurance purposes. By participating in the program, you consent to being recorded. The recordings will be stored securely and only accessed by authorized Preface staff.

Personal data may be collected and/or processed by Preface both within and outside Hong Kong mainly for the purpose of booking completion, product and/or service provision. Preface reserves the right to inform clients of any new offers, products and services which may be of interest to clients including but not limited to E-mail and SMS. Preface processes personal data in compliance with applicable data protection legislation. If you have questions about Preface's processing of your personal data, would like to have a copy of the information Preface holds about you, or have inaccurate personal data rectified or erased, please contact us at community@preface.ai.

INTERPRETATION

Words importing the singular include the plural and vice versa and words importing a gender include every gender and any reference to a person includes a reference to a body corporate or any unincorporated entity. The headings on this page are inserted for convenience only and shall not affect the construction of this Agreement.
